About Us

Our Brothers Place, at 233 North Huron St., located in downtown Toledo, opened on June 24, 2011. The restaurant and special events establishment is operated by business partners Glenn and Mike Johnson, who are brothers, and their brother-in-law Al Garmon. The debut opening saw some 600 patrons pass through the historic Our Brothers Place building, for a post-concert affair after the “brothers” brought R & B crooner KEM and jazz man Alex Bugnon to perform at The Peristyle Theatre at the Toledo Museum of Art. The unforgettable concert set the pace for the existing entertainment, dining, and socializing with an adult sensibility that can only be found at Our Brothers Place.

Excerpts from the Toledo Blade:

Downtown Toledo’s restaurant scene is about to grow a bit as a new place opens in a location where a pair of dining establishments have closed in recent years.

Our Brothers Place will open at 4 p.m. Friday at 233 North Huron St., which is the former location of Sidelines and Jackson’s Lounge and Grille. It will be owned and operated by business partners Glenn and Mike Johnson — who are brothers — and their brother-in-law Al Garmon.

Glenn Johnson said Our Brothers Place will serve American cuisine that will be similar to sports bar food, but the menu will expand as the restaurant grows. He said the restaurant will include some live music, with an emphasis on rhythm and blues and jazz.

The Johnsons are from St. Louis and Mr. Harmon is from Toledo. Glenn Johnson said he has owned other restaurants and he believes Our Brothers Place can succeed downtown at a location where two other spots have closed.

The restaurant will be open nightly, but not for lunch.

He said he is reaching out to “kind of a niche market” that is underserved in Toledo. “We’re catering to the 30-and- older group that enjoys that type of entertainment,” he said.
